Senior QA Automation Engineer (Contract)

About the opportunity

TekRek is recruiting a Senior QA Automation Engineer for a six-month Toronto contract with a SaaS platform used by school organizations for payments, accounting and reporting.

The engineer owns quality from requirements review through release, covering both functional and automated testing.

Key responsibilities

• Work includes designing functional, regression, smoke and exploratory test coverage; extending UI, API and end-to-end automation with Playwright and Selenium; validating REST APIs and error handling; running automated suites in Azure DevOps; investigating failures; using SQL to verify back-end transactions and test data; and collaborating with Product, Engineering, Design and DevOps during each sprint.

Qualifications

• Candidates need at least five years of software QA experience across functional, regression, integration and system testing plus a bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT or a related field.
• Strong Playwright and Selenium automation, API testing with Playwright and Postman and SQL skills are required.
• The posting also expects Agile experience with Jira and Confluence and working knowledge of cloud platforms, preferably Azure.
• JMeter, BrowserStack, accessibility testing and AI-assisted testing tools are assets.

Position details

• Six-month contract in Toronto, Ontario.
