Vice President of Software Engineering

About the opportunity

TekRek is recruiting the most senior technical leader for an early-stage Toronto health-technology company building clinical infrastructure and LLM-enabled products.

The VP of Software Engineering will set technical direction and foundational architecture while remaining hands-on in production code.

Key responsibilities

• The role partners directly with the CEO and clinical leadership, translates product strategy into technical execution, builds secure cloud-native systems that can scale across products and jurisdictions and establishes engineering practices, hiring standards and team culture.
• The person will also shape AI infrastructure, including LLM-powered features, retrieval systems and other agentic capabilities.

Qualifications

• Candidates should have experience building and scaling software platforms from an early stage, ideally in a fast-growth startup, and strong backend engineering ability in languages such as TypeScript, Python or Go.
