Role overview

Trans-United Consultants is recruiting a certified Machinist for a permanent position in Kingston. The role works with both manual and computer-programmed machining equipment in a heavy machine-shop environment, setting up equipment, maintaining tolerances, checking parts against drawings and troubleshooting minor tooling or fixture issues during production.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual and CNC/programmed machines according to established procedures.
• Change tools and inserts and adjust offsets to maintain required tolerances.
• Inspect work at multiple production stages against blueprint requirements.
• Identify irregularities and non-conformance to quality standards.
• Troubleshoot minor fixture/tooling problems and support reliable production.

• Machinist Certificate of Qualification.
• Machine-shop experience with large horizontal and/or vertical mills.
• Ability to interpret blueprints and accurately use measurement tools.
• Understanding of machinery, material tolerances and quality requirements.
• Heidenhain CNC-control experience is an asset.
• Ability to work rotating shifts.
