Machinist/QA Inspector

Role overview

Trans-United Consultants is recruiting a permanent Machinist/QA Inspector in Kingston for a heavy-machining and fabrication environment. The role combines dimensional inspection, quality-system administration and practical knowledge of machining processes. The inspector monitors in-process and completed work against drawings, process requirements and customer specifications while helping production employees use measuring equipment and quality procedures correctly.

Responsibilities

• Inspect machined and fabricated work against drawings, process requirements and customer specifications.
• Monitor jobs in process to reduce non-conformance and inspect subcontracted work before release.
• Prepare certificates of compliance, dimensional reports and other customer quality documentation.
• Maintain calibration records for company- and employee-owned measuring instruments.
• Help troubleshoot drawing/process interpretation and measurement issues.
• Support investigation and resolution of non-conformance and ISO 9001 policy/procedure work.
• Communicate with customers and vendors on quality concerns.

• Licensed Machinist or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years in a machine/fabrication shop or manufacturing engineering environment with heavy machining capability.
• Ability to interpret blueprints and accurately use measurement tools.
• Strong understanding of machinery, equipment, material tolerances and quality standards.
• Good time management, problem solving, initiative and commitment to assigned work.
